“Al-Kitab Al-Mukhtasar fi Hisab Al-Jabr Wal-Muqabalah”,
the word Al-Jabr in that title is where the word Algebra comes from.
The author of this title is Al-Khawarizmi, he was a Muslim scholar from the 9th century C.E.

This is an animation that illustrates the concepts in the first chapter of “Imagining the Tenth Dimension” by Rob Bryanton.
Although this way of imagining the dimensions is different from the way they are postulated in string theory, it does nonetheless take us a little closer to the notion that there may be other dimensions, outside of the 3 or 4 dimensions that we are used to thinking of.
